J2 League

The J2 League is the second tier of professional football (soccer) in Japan. It is part of the broader Japanese football league system, below the J1 League, which is the top division. Founded in 1999, the J2 League provides a competitive platform for clubs that aspire to gain promotion to the J1 League. The league typically consists of multiple teams that compete against each other throughout a season, with matches playing a critical role in determining standings. Teams earn points based on their performance, with those accumulating the most points at the end of the season eligible for promotion to the J1 League. Additionally, the J2 League may also include a relegation system, where the lowest-performing teams may be relegated to a lower division. The league is known for fostering local talent and offering a venue for clubs to develop their football programs.
