Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The main objective is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is usually played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

In most countries, “football” refers to what is known in the United States and Canada as “soccer,” which is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The rules of the game are outlined in the Laws of the Game, which include regulations on gameplay, player conduct, and officiating.

Football can also refer more broadly to various forms of the game played in different regions, such as American football, Australian rules football, and Canadian football, each with its own set of rules and styles of play. However, the term is most widely recognized as the sport involving kicking a round ball with the foot and using other parts of the body (except the arms and hands, for outfield players) to control and pass the ball. Football is one of the most popular sports globally, known for its passionate fan base and significant cultural impact.
